Sulforaphane (SFN) is a nutrient compound with potent health benefits, such as antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, detoxification, and anti-bacterial activities. These activities of SFN are mainly due to its function in activating a transcription factor called Nrf2. The activation of Nrf2 can trigger the expression of many antioxidant enzymes and second-stage detoxification enzymes inside the cells. Many studies have shown that SFN promotes cellular protection via Nrf2 activation¹ to stimulate antioxidant defense and detoxifying enzymes^2,3. Most recently, SFN has also been found to have the potential to protect people against COVID-19⁴.
